The Ripple of Laughter
Along the banks of a sparkling river, where willow trees leaned gently over the water and dragonflies danced in the warm afternoon sun, lived a joyful otter named Sunny.
Every day felt like an adventure to Sunny.
He skipped smooth stones across the river.
He raced drifting leaves.
He floated on his back while watching fluffy clouds drift overhead.
Wherever Sunny went, laughter wasn't far behind.

One cloudy morning, Sunny noticed that the river seemed unusually quiet.

"I've been working so hard building my dam."
"I keep making mistakes."
"I feel like nothing is going right."
Sunny looked thoughtfully at the calm river.
Then he reached into the water and picked up a small, flat stone.
Without saying a word, he skipped it across the river.

Tiny ripples spread gently across the water until they reached the opposite shore.
Sunny smiled.
"See that?"
Oliver nodded.
"It was only one little stone."
"But look how far the ripples traveled."
Oliver watched as the circles slowly disappeared.
"I don't understand."
Sunny tossed another stone.
"This morning, you smiled at a little duckling."
Oliver thought for a moment.
"I did."
"You helped a turtle carry sticks yesterday."
"I guess I did."
"And last week, you repaired the bridge after the storm."
Oliver smiled slightly.
"I remember."
Sunny looked at his friend.
"You've been counting your mistakes."
He gently nudged another stone into Oliver's paw.
"But everyone else has been feeling the ripples of your kindness."
Oliver looked down at the stone.
"I never thought those little things mattered."
Sunny laughed warmly.
"They matter more than you know."
Oliver tossed the stone.

The ripples spread across the river once again.
For the first time that day, Oliver smiled.
Not because every problem had disappeared...

He pointed toward the water.
